Vacoloco Ramblings

During the build I found a couple of minor mistakes in the BoM, I’d neglected to list four resistors and one of them had the wrong value against it, so I’ve uploaded a new version of the BoM (version 0.03).

On here I’ll be posting updates about GorF (and other things I’m doing) and also hopefully be able to answer questions about my projects as they move on.

So, Here’s the results for the kit enquiry;

kit 1 = 8
kit 2 = 18
kit 3 = 14
kit 4 = 1
kit 5 = 56

That’s 97 boards, I only bought 100!
A few questions have been asked during this, so I’ll answer them now :

I’m also chasing down some more parts, this weekend I’ll be sorting out bags of kits, I don’t have enough money to buy all the parts required for the 40+ “kit 5″ requests. So I’ll have to [...]

Look what arrived in the post today, all 100 of them -

The board is black with white writing, my camera made this look patchy, it’s not, it’s a very nice black soldermask.
I’m now waiting for the parts from RS and the customs bill to arrive. RS don’t have all the parts I needed for 20 [...]

Well, the PCBs have been shipped from China, just have to wait for them to get here and clear customs.
Whilst we’re waiting, I’d like to guage how many “kits” I need to buy parts for, so here’s what I’m proposing to offer for kits, you’ll still need to buy your own resistors, 6n137, oscillator module, [...]

I’ve uploaded a short video onto YouTube showing the sysex update process. It also shows the loading and storing of sequences using the new load and store buttons. and the final thing it shows is the tweak that means when you select a new sequence it loads at the end of the currently playing one, [...]

I’ve updated the GorF downloads page, I’ve made available the Eagle files for the schematic and PCB and also Version 0.22 of the firmware, as a sysex file.
The New version now uses the Load and Store buttons, and allows loading and storing of 8 sequences in the internal EEPROM. There’s still a bit of a hiccup [...]

So, first the good news, I’ve ordered the PCBs, ETA for delivery is end of February. I’ve taken a huge leap of faith and ordered a 100 of them, as I can get them at a good price for that. This means that assuming customs don’t hammer me, we should be talking 5UKP for each [...]
