ADSR speed tests

Friday, February 8th, 2013

Well, I’ve done some speed tests for the ADSRs and I think I may need some adjustments. At 0 (Zero) the decay/release is around 0.5mS, possibly a bit quick. at 127 the decay/release is around 110 seconds, possibly a bit too long. Good enough to develop with for now Anyway, here’s the samples -¬†http://soundcloud.com/vacoloco/egspeed-20130208

Aurora ADSRs

Monday, February 4th, 2013

Managed to get the ADSRs in and working today, still got a few bugs to iron out, but they have the shape I wanted. Nice linear attack, exponential decay and release curves.

Aurora Now receiving MIDI

Saturday, February 2nd, 2013

I’m very pleased to announce that Aurora is now receiving MIDI and playing notes from MIDI (in this case my GorF sequencer) https://soundcloud.com/vacoloco/first-midi-to-voice-tests With this now working I can work on the envelope generators and then begin adding the modulation.

Aurora Control Working

Friday, February 1st, 2013

The control board is now communicating with the voice, phew. In the picture Knob zero controls the voice LFO rate, and knob one controls the LFO waveform. It sounds like a relatively small thing, but it’s crucial as now I can connect other voice cards and have the main control board send patch and note […]

Aurora Control PCB

Monday, January 28th, 2013

As mentioned previously, I dug out a control board I’d used for another project a while back and decided to use this for Aurora.Today I added the various wires needed and tested the board, so far so good. This will let me send MIDI to the voice to test things like envelopes, pitch tracking and […]

Aurora gets an LFO

Sunday, January 27th, 2013

Tonight was quite productive, I managed to add an LFO to the Aurora Voice card. It has four wave shapes; sine, sawtooth, square and random. It has a variable rate from very slow to very quick, a delay (which fades in) and the ability to restart the wave when a new key is pressed. A […]

Aurora Waveform Demos

Sunday, January 27th, 2013

I’ve now added PWM to Aurora’s oscillators so I thought it was time to share a couple more demo sounds. I forgot just how much richness PWM adds to the sound First up we have the PWM, just a single oscillator with a simple pulse width sweep up and down from 1% to 50% width […]

Aurora Update

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013

A quick update about Aurora, I’m still working on it but there’s not much to show at the moment. I’m playing with the oscillator code so I can add a few more waveforms, but critically I’m adding variable pulse width so Aurora can have PWM. I’m also investigating how best to get a decent quality […]

Aurora Filter tests, part II

Monday, December 10th, 2012

More VCF tests for #Aurora – https://soundcloud.com/vacoloco/filter-test-20121210 I’ve sorted the polesweep balance and the resonance levels. So these tests are for that. no resonance (0 seconds) pole sweep at 4pole pole sweep between 4 pole an BP polesweep at BP pole sweep between BP and 1P pole sweep at 1P a little resonance (34.5 seconds) […]

Aurora updates

Saturday, December 8th, 2012

I’ve been thinking about how to give the specification of Aurora on line and I’ve come up with this approach. Rather than saying what I intend to include, I’m going to put the feature set up as it happens. i.e. when a feature is added I’ll post online. This means I won’t be promising to […]
